Whole Child

At Qor, every student is exceptionally unique and will have cultivate their own paths of interests and abilities. We are dedicated to promoting our educational philosophy Academic Tenacity which simply means “Our students will work harder and smarter”. Dedication to innovation and rigorous educational platforms allow students to reach well beyond their fullest potential through the whole child method. Children need all of their needs met in order to flourish, with this in mind we will foster the “Whole Child” method by offering supports that seek to build skills in each of these areas. Our Whole Child method is the combination of academic, social, emotional, and physical elements that unlock unlimited growth of every individual student.

Social & Emotional Learning

Character building and mental health wellbeing is the foundation of our program. We implement social – emotional and character building into all areas of our daily schedule. Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) support our social - emotional and character building learning goals. CASEL, a research based program that has shown successful outcomes with “at risk” students. The 4R’s program (Reading, Writing, Respect, Resolution) provides interactive skills lessons to develop social and emotional skills related to understanding and managing feelings, listening and developing empathy, being assertive, resolving conflict creatively and nonviolently, honoring diversity, and standing up to teasing and bullying.

Project Based Learning

Our model provides every student unique pathways to enriched rigorous project - based learning (PBL) curriculum. Project based learning is a systematic teaching method that engages students in learning important knowledge and 21st century skills through an extended, student-influenced inquiry process structured around complex, authentic questions and carefully designed products and learning tasks. Project based learning is one of the best ways to prepare students for the demands of life, citizenship, and work in today’s world. PBL effectively teaches content knowledge and skills by building deeper understanding of concepts. Students connect to projects and recognize what they are doing is meaningful and explore issues relevant to their lives while making connections to adults, community and beyond.

Personalized Learning

Every student is assessed using Istation Assessment for mathematical and literacy levels. Guides use the baseline levels to develop individual goals, strategies and interventions to ensure adequate growth. Levels and goals are recorded in the Individual Personalized Plan (IPP), a document that records all academic, attendance, and behavior information. Staff meet periodically to discuss results pertaining to performance outcomes and update goals, strategies, and interventions accordingly.

Every Kid Healthy

Qor Charter School takes action that lead students to healthy eating, physical activity and an overall healthier lifestyle. We partner with C.B.S Kosher Food National School Lunch Program (NSLP) that provides free fresh breakfast and lunch along with a daily snack. We also provide a full-time licensed nurse on campus to address any medical issues that may arise.

Kinesthetic Learning

Kinesthetic learning connects different ways in which students learn, this process enables more effective understanding and retention of information. In kinesthetic learning, movement and action replace passive forms of learning and make connections of mind with body. Allowing for deep emotional and interpersonal connections of material that become natural to the body. The power of movement and creativity engage students physically which propels self-discovery and self-expression.

Community Hub

We are a place and a set of partnerships between school and community resources. We integrate academics, health, and social / emotional services that add to community development. Our goal is to help create stronger students, families, and communities. We are a center of the community and are open to everyone.
