    Answer

Our warranty covers our product(s) from any defects/malfunction for one year from the date of purchase. How do I select optional lenses to enhance my vision?

    Answer

In addition to providing optimal lighting, Dr. Kim Headlight System can further enhance your vision with the use of lenses. Two types of lens magnifications are available - loupe and telescope. Loupes and telescope are engineered to work seamlessly with the headlight. You can easily attach/remove loupe and telescope as needed. You do not need any special tool. Please note that you cannot use loupe and telescope simultaneously. Only one can be used at a time. However, you may use loupe simultaneously with your eyeglasses. Since loupe/telescope is attached to the C-band and is light in weight, it does not place any additional strain on your nose or neck.

How to select an appropriate loupe for my vision

    Answer

Loupe is selected based on two parameters: Pupillary Distance (PD, in mm) and Diopter. For example, a loupe with 58-1.5 indicates a PD of 58 mm and diopter of 1.5 (mild farsightedness). Since loupes provide generous field of view, don't worry about fitting PD exactly. A loupe with closest PD should be adequate for your sight. Please contact if you have any question about how to select right loupe for your need.

See, How can I measure my Pupillary Distance for detail. Diopter range from 1.5 to 3.5 in 0.25 increment. For those with mild farsightedness (hyperopia), 1.5 diopter is recommended. Diopter of 2.5 and 3.5 are recommended for those with moderate and severe farsightedness, respectively.

What is the longevity of Dr. Kim Headlight System?

    Answer

Few physicians have shared their initial concerns about the durability of the C- band given its lightweight plastic construction. High quality plastic was used in the I-beam shape to provide sufficient structural rigidity while providing featherlight headband for improved comfort. None of physicians have yet to return the headlight due to mechanical failure. In fact, most physicians love their Dr. Kim Headlight for its untethered lightweight convenience and comfort.

    Precautions and maintenance

    Answer

You should take reasonable precautions not to drop the headlight. Also, be gentle especially when pushing down the dual LEDs apparatus to turn on the light.

Please keep Dr. Kim Headlight System clean and dry. This headlight should not be used when wet. If the headlight gets wet, discontinue the headlight immediately. Be sure to turn off the headlight immediately with gloved hand, remove the battery, and completely dry the C-band to minimize the risk of electrical shock.

What are differences between loupes and telescope?

    Answer

Loupes provide a 1.5 - 2.5x magnification and generous field of view while the telescope lens provide 2.5 -3.0x magnification and narrower field of view. Loupes are available for specific pupillary Distance (PD) and diopter (farsightedness). On the other hand, the telescope has a built-in focus adjustment for each eye and a mechanism to accommodate a range of typical PD. We will ship a telescope to your specified PD but you will need to adjust focus for your eyes.
Whether to choose loupe or the telescope is totally your personal preference. Most physicians find Dr. Kim Headlight with a customized loupe satisfactory and a cost effective way to begin. You can also acquire the telescope if you require greater magnification.

How can I measure my Pupillary Distance (PD)?

    Answer

You can assess your PD with a help of another person. Pupillary Distance (PD) is the distance between your pupils. Please ask the person to stand 12-16 inches (your typical working distance) away from you. Ask the person to measure the distance between your pupils in millimeter (mm) with a ruler while you focus your eyes on that person's nose.

Alternatively, you may obtain your PD from your ophthalmologist/optometrist. Since PD is typically measured for far vision, you would need to subtract 2 mm to arrive at your PD for your typical working distance.

Photo or video can be captured and saved from a custom program.

What should I do if light does not turn on? (Trouble shooting instructions)

    Answer

The most common reason that light does not turn on is the lack of battery power. Please check the battery to make sure it is placed properly, that the brightness dial is not in off position (turned all the way to downward position), and that battery is not out of power. Placed a freshly charged battery, adjust the brightness dial setting to middle, and turn LEDs on. If you still experience problem, please contact us.

Incidentally, when placing battery in the charger, be sure that battery contacts are properly aligned with the contacts of the charger.
